Category: Dominican Republic

We spent hurricane season in the Dominican Republic. The local community welcomed us so warmly; our children attended the public school and played neighborhood baseball. The produce was fresh, the rum was cheap, and it was the first place we’d bought eggs to bring home in a plastic bag. Luperon remains the only place we’ve visited that I actually had tears when we left.

Examining common cruiser complaints about Luperon, Dominican Republic

Welcome to Becoming A Sailor. I've written more than 250 posts about our travels on our St Francis 50 catamaran. We have been sailing since 2015, and our four kids have grown up on our sailboat. This is not a sailing log. Instead, it's an immersive record of a life afloat. I write to recreate the moment, whether we're standing on a volcano or cleaning our boat bottom.
