Departure checklist for leaving an anchorage

The departure checklist helps our family leave an anchorage like a well-oiled machine. I thought I’d include our departure checklist – which my husband (Rick) wrote – as a discussion point for new or soon-to-be sailors. Below is a link to the aforementioned checklist.

Aphrodite Departure Checklist

In a separate post, I will include checklists for raising and lowering our dinghy. Rick says that at some point these checklists will seem a bit funny. I am new to the process now. But, in time, the process for raising and lowering the dinghy will become second nature.

P.S. We are now in the Turks and Caicos. We are anchored in Sapodilla Bay, which seems to be an area with lots of waterfront vacation homes. Today we restocked our groceries. We will be in the Turks and Caicos for a week. We are waiting for a weather window to continue our journey to Luperon, Dominican Republic.

  1. Great list! I love a good list. I’ve made a list of what to do in the event of an emergency. I know I will just be running around losing the plot, so a list will (hopefully) keep me focused!
