Crossing the Gulf Stream: Our First Passage to the Bahamas

Tomorrow morning, we are leaving the Florida Keys for the Bahamas on our first sailing passage as a family. Crossing the Gulf Stream meant that we pointed our boat many miles further south as the great current pushed us northwards.

This will be our first passage on SV Aphrodite. The kids are very excited. Rick and I are happy to start sailing again.

We will leave at about 6 a.m. tomorrow. It will take us about 8 hours to reach Cat Cay, Bahamas.

Stay tuned!

Cat Cay is in the Bimini Islands of Bahamas, near Miami

This short blog post is one of the highs in a mix of feelings surrounding our first sailig passage. Less than a week before I had written First Sailing Passage: Fear, Seasickness and Bahamas Plans.
